Dear Mr. Lawlor:
Please be advised that I am submitting my resignation from
Weld County Landfill, Inc, as o£ April 24, 1973, due to lack of
co-operation from the Denver branch of BFI Inc . My reasons are
as follows:
We have hard ground formations and severe wind conditions
at this location so it is necessary to have deep cells
for trash to be put in. Therefore, we need a tractor
with a ripper, which we do have. However, Denver took
this tractor with the promise to return it within a
week. That was on February 15th, and it still has not
been .returned. Since we have no way to transport
equipment, they agreed to maintain the Prospect Land-
fill, (Site ##27) , on the 1st and 15th of each month.
To date, they have been there once, also on February 15th .
Twice we have given them the names of businesses where
we need to have charge accounts set up. Until March 30th,
we had none, with the exception of fuel, utilities and
phone . We now have approval for three . We do not have
the necessary safety and first-aid equipment the
inspector said we were to have. Denver was supposed
to get this for us also .
Quarterly, our books are to be audited by the county.
Denver has them, and I don' t know what they are going
to do, however, the county auditor is going to want an
explanation. I have asked about the bookkeeping
system; how and what records are to be kept, etc. , but
I get no answers.
The County Commissioners have made the following statement:
"This contract was let for services , not excuses. " Under the
circumstances, I cannot maintain the Landfill sites as the
Health Department and County Commissioners are accustomed
to, and under these circumstances I will not be able to make
a profit as in the past under the Denver branch supervision.
