View this email in your browser E L MAP EJ GRANTS HUB It is with deep sadness that we share the news that on Friday, May 2nd, we received a termination from EPA for this project. With the termination, we are forced to formally close the Mountains and Plains Environmental Justice (MAP EJ) Grants Hub. We want to recognize the weight of what this means not only for the work we've collectively put into building this initiative, but also for the communities it was designed to serve. We do want to share one small win: before we received the termination notice, we were successfully able to execute subgrants with the 10 non-competitive finalists from Cycle 1, and complete their first milestone. As a reminder, the non-competitive grants were for severely capacity -constrained organizations. This will have a real impact for them and the communities they serve. We celebrate this small win as we grieve the larger loss. We want to take a moment to acknowledge the tremendous effort, vision, and dedication you have all invested to get to this point. From early planning to community engagement, each of you has shown unwavering commitment to advancing critical, community led solutions. It's painful to know that we won't be able to see this project through to implementation together. This termination leaves a significant hole in funding for work that we know is urgent, vital, and long overdue. The loss extends beyond this program it disrupts momentum, relationships, and the real, tangible progress we were all working so hard to achieve. 3 Despite this setback, we continue to be inspired by the resilience and strength you demonstrate every day. You are the heart of this work, and your communities are stronger because of your presence, advocacy, and persistence. We will be holding a final MAP EJ Grants Hub Farewell meeting on Wednesday, May 14th from 1-2pm MST. We invite you to join us as we reflect on and celebrate the collective effort and impact of this initiative. We hope that you'll be able to use this content and guidance in sharing stories about your grants with various audiences across the Mountain West and Plains. We remain hopeful that new opportunities will emerge to support this important work. Thank you for everything you've done and continue to do for equity, justice, and community -led transformation.
