FOSTER CARE MONTH
MAY 2025
WHEREAS, we recognize and appreciate our dedicated Weld County foster caregivers,
child welfare professionals and faith -based and community organizations, who are
building stronger communities and improving the lives of children, youth and families by
tirelessly providing nurturing, unwavering care and consistent advocacy; and
WHEREAS, we acknowledge Weld County foster families who open their hearts and
homes to over 70 children and youth currently in out -of -home non -kinship care; and
WHEREAS, foster families are important caregivers that assist in family reunification through
trauma -informed support; and
WHEREAS, Weld County wishes to recognize the Troyer family — an exceptional foster
family that has been recognized by the state for their 27 years of service — as well as all
Weld County foster families that support children and youth.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED by the Board of Weld County Commissioners that
May 2025 be known as Foster Care Month. We urge all citizens to dedicate themselves to
protecting children and connecting with families within their communities to ensure we
are all thriving.
