But if and when they do, it's important that a professional quickly answers the phone, provides clear instruction and facilitates emergency response; and WHEREAS, such actions are not only necessary but heroic. In Weld County, these heroes are the "first, first responders" who staff the Weld County Regional Communications Center (WCRCC) 24/7/365, ensuring help is only a phone call or text away. While dispatchers and call takers may be the most public -facing element of 911 response, the effort of those behind the scenes — radio technicians, quality assurance and training personnel, programming personnel and an administrative team — have also made the WCRCC a success; and WHEREAS, this success can be seen in numbers. In 2024, staff in the WCRCC responded to 128,699 911 calls. Additionally, since 2017, more than 3,000 Text -to -911 sessions have been initiated, meaning that lifesaving response was given even to those who couldn't call for help. Beyond these numbers, the professionalism with which the staff serves the public also stands out. Between 2021 and 2024, 77 Lifesaver Awards and five Stork Awards were issued, commemorating instances where Weld County Public Safety Communications professionals helped save a life or welcome a new life into the world; and WHEREAS, while citizens that have been helped during a 911 emergency periodically stop by the WCRCC to say, "thank you!" National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week offers an opportunity for that gratitude to be extended. With this proclamation, we champion the critical work done by Weld County Public Safety Communications and join all of Weld County in expressing appreciation to the men and women who work in this field and providelifesaving service. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED by the Weld County Board of Commissioners that the week of April 13th through the 19th be recognized as National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week. Thank you to - :on.ers w o ass's in emergencies with professionalism and care. Deputy Clerk to the Board 2025-0987 Hello
