Approve Regulating, Warning, and Guiding Traffic During Extension of Temporary
Closure of County Road 17 Between County Road 28 and State Highway 66 for
Approximately an Additional Three (3) Weeks, for Unanticipated Delays Due to
Inclimate Weather and Irrigation issues
Whereas, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
Whereas, pursuant to C.R.S. §42-4-106(6)(a), "...local authorities, with their respective
jurisdiction may, for the purpose of road construction and maintenance, temporarily close
to through traffic or to all vehicular traffic any highway or portion thereof for a period not
to exceed a specified number of work days for project completion and shall, in conjunction
with any such road closure establish appropriate detours or provide for an alternative
routing of the traffic affected...", and
Whereas, on the 19th day of February, 2025, pursuant to said Statute and upon the basis
of traffic and personnel investigations, the Board determined that conditions existed which
made it necessary to temporarily close County Road 17, between County Road 28 and
State Highway 66, to through traffic and to regulate, warn and guide vehicular traffic by
posting signs thereon, with said closure being effective February 26, 2025, for
approximately three and a half (3.5) months, for a bridge replacement, and
Whereas, on the 9th day of June, 2025, pursuant to said Statute and upon the basis of
traffic and personnel investigations, the Board has determined that conditions exist which
make it necessary to extend said temporary closure of County Road 17, between County
Road 28 and State Highway 66, with said extended closure being effective June 13, 2025,
for approximately an additional three (3) weeks through July 2, 2025, for unanticipated
delays due to inclimate weather and irrigation issues, and further, that standard official
traffic control devices shall be erected at said closure giving notice of the restrictions.
Now, therefore, be it resolved that the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, deems it necessary to regulate, warn, and guide vehicular traffic on County
Roads and any intersections thereof, and it hereby authorizes and orders the posting of
such traffic control devices as shall be reasonably necessary to regulate, warn, and/or
guide traffic thereon for the safety of the general public and that said traffic control devices
shall conform to the Federal Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.

Be it further resolved that the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, does declare and establish that County Road 17, between County Road 28
and State Highway 66, be, and hereby is, extended, with said extended closure being
effective June 13, 2025, for approximately and additional three (3) weeks through July 2,
2025, for unanticipated delays due to inclimate weather and irrigation issues, and further,
that standard official traffic control devices shall be erected at said closure giving notice
of the restrictions.
The Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, approved the above
and foregoing Resolution, on motion duly made and seconded, by the following vote on
the 9th day of June, A.D., 2025:

Weld County Public Works is requesting permission to extend the road closure on WCR 17 between
SH 66 and WCR 28 to 7/2/2025. The extension is being requested due to weather delays and irrigation
issues.
The original closure dates were 2/26/25 thru 6/13/25 for bridge replacement.
