SUICIDE AWARENESS AND PREVENTION MONTH
SEPTEMBER 2025
WHEREAS, suicide can affect anyone, regardless of age, gender, race, orientation,
income level or background; and
WHEREAS, over 49,000 deaths annually are attributed to suicide; with suicide rates in
Colorado ranking 6th national, and 67 Weld County lives lost to suicide in 2024; and
WHEREAS, through the collaborative efforts of North Range Behavior Health, Suicide
Educations and Support Services (SES), Imagine Zero of Weld County and others, support
is available; and
WHEREAS, September is recognized as National Suicide Awareness and Prevention Month
with the goal of challenging stigma around mental health and promoting awareness
around suicide prevention; and
WHEREAS, helping others feel seen, valued, and supported are some of the most
important things we can do to prevent suicide.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT PROCLAIMED by the Board of Weld County Commissions that
September 2025 be known as Suicide Awareness and Prevention Month and encourage
all residents to learn how to talk about mental health, become familiar with national and
local suicide prevention resources and check in on your family, friends, and neighbors.
