Approve Appointment of Kali Benson as Director of CSU Extension Service of Weld
County and Designation of Management/Supervisory Authority Over County
Employees
Whereas, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
Whereas, the CSU Extension Service of Weld County is integral in fulfilling the provision
of Extension education programs, which may include youth development, consumer
sciences, family development, health education, community and economic development,
agriculture, horticulture, natural resources, and "subjects authorized by the Smith -Lever
Act, as amended, and other Acts supporting cooperative extension work", and
Whereas, pursuant to Sections 2(b) and 2(e) of the Memorandum of Understanding
(MOU) between Colorado State University (CSU) and Weld County, dated December 21,
2015, with the approval of the Board, CSU has the responsibility of recruiting, appointing,
and supervising a County Extension Director/Agent for Weld County (Extension Director),
whose role includes the management and supervision of Weld County employees who
are assigned to perform the tasks of the Extension Office as directed by the Extension
Director, and
Whereas, the Board deems it advisable to approve of the appointment of Kali Benson as
the Extension Director of the CSU Extension Service of Weld County, effective June 2,
2025, and to authorize her to manage/supervise in accordance with the provisions of
Chapter 3 of the Weld County Code all of the Weld County employees who are assigned
to perform the tasks of the Extension Office as directed by Ms. Benson.
Now, therefore, be it resolved by Board of Weld County Commissioners that the
appointment of Kali Benson by CSU as Extension Director of the CSU Extension Service
of Weld County, effective June 2, 2025, be, and hereby is, approved, and that Ms. Benson
be and hereby is authorized to manage/supervise, in accordance with the provisions of
Chapter 3 of the Weld County Code, all of the Weld County employees who are assigned
to perform the tasks of the Extension Office as directed by her.

The Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, approved the above
and foregoing Resolution, on motion duly made and seconded, by the following vote on
the 9th day of June, A.D., 2025, nunc pro tunc June 2, 2025:
