Establishing Boundary Lines of Commissioner Districts in Weld County, Colorado
Whereas, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
Whereas, the Board was required by the Colorado Supreme Court in League of Women
Voters et al. v. Board of County Commissioners of the County of Weld, 2025 CO 8, to
draw new district boundaries in time for the 2026 Weld County Commissioner Election,
and
Whereas, Colorado Revised Statutes § 30-10-306(2) and 30-10-306.4(1) requires the
Board to adopt the final plan that will become the boundaries of Commissioner Districts
in Weld County, and
Whereas, C.R.S. § 30-10-306.3(4) prohibits the Board from approving a plan that has
been drawn for the purpose of protecting any incumbent, candidate, or political party, or
a plan drawn for the purpose of, or results in, the denial or abridgement of the right of any
citizen to vote, and
Whereas, in reviewing the record of the Redistricting Commission, the Board agrees with
the Commission that the Final Plan has not been drawn for an impermissible purpose or
has any impermissible result, and
Whereas, the Board is otherwise required by statute to adopt Boundary Lines of
Commissioner Districts in conformance with the Final Plan adopted by the Redistricting
Commission, and
Whereas, after review, the Board deems it advisable to approve said Final Plan, a copy
of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference as Exhibit "A".
Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, that the boundary lines of the County Commissioner Districts within the County
with the division of precincts into the respective County Commissioner Districts as shown
on the attached Exhibit "A" be, and hereby is, approved.
