ROOSEVELT ROUGHRIDERS DAY
STATE CHAMPION FFA DAIRY EVALUATION TEAM
MAY 14, 2025
WHEREAS, the Roosevelt Roughriders dairy evaluation team participated in the 2025 FFA
Career Development Events in late April on the campus of Colorado State University; and
WHEREAS, in the two-day event, which featured more than 1,800 students from across the
state, Roosevelt shined as its dairy evaluation team won the state championship, a feat
earned through hard work, teamwork and immense knowledge; and
WHEREAS, the knowledge on display resulted in the members of the dairy evaluation team
receiving several individual recognitions. Maylin and Dakota Bernard received high and
second -place individual recognitions, respectively while Markus Gardner and Ella
Stirewalt received gold and silver awards, respectively; and
WHEREAS, it's no secret that Weld County has deep roots in agriculture and is one of the
top ag-producing counties in the state and nation. While this is largely credited to the
men and women who work with livestock and harvest crops, it is also due to a young
generation eager to leave their mark on an industry that means so much to so many, and
the success of our young people in this field makes us especially proud; and
WHEREAS, as Roosevelt prepares for the 2025 National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, we
hope team members will approach the event with confidence, knowing that we as a
board and Weld County as a whole are behind them as they again strive for excellence.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED by the Board of Weld County Commissioners that the
14. Day of May be known as Roosevelt Roughriders Day. We join parents, team members
and advisors in celebrating the special accomplishment of winning a state
championship.
