Approve Regulating, Warning, and Guiding Traffic During Extension of Temporary
Closure of County Road 44 Between County Roads 51 and 53 for Approximately an
Additional Six (6) Weeks, for Unanticipated Delays Due to Further Required Road
Improvements
Whereas, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
Whereas, pursuant to C.R.S. §42-4-106(6)(a), "...local authorities, with their respective
jurisdiction may, for the purpose of road construction and maintenance, temporarily close
to through traffic or to all vehicular traffic any highway or portion thereof for a period not
to exceed a specified number of work days for project completion and shall, in conjunction
with any such road closure establish appropriate detours or provide for an alternative
routing of the traffic affected...", and
Whereas, on the 30th day of September, 2024, pursuant to said Statute and upon the
basis of traffic and personnel investigations, the Board determined that conditions existed
which made it necessary to temporarily close County Road 44, between County Roads 51
and 53, to through traffic and to regulate, warn and guide vehicular traffic by posting signs
thereon, with said closure being effective October 14, 2024, for approximately four and a
half (4.5) months, through February 28, 2025, for the replacement of Bridge 44/51A, and
Whereas, on the 19th day of February, 2025, pursuant to said Statute and upon the basis
of traffic and personnel investigations, the Board has determined that conditions exist
which make it necessary to extend said temporary closure of County Road 44, between
County Roads 51 and 53, with said extended closure being effective February 28, 2025,
for approximately an additional six (6) weeks through April 8, 2025, for unanticipated
delays due to further required road improvements, and further, that standard official traffic
control devices shall be erected at said closure giving notice of the restrictions.
Now, therefore, be it resolved that the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, deems it necessary to regulate, warn, and guide vehicular traffic on County
Roads and any intersections thereof, and it hereby authorizes and orders the posting of
such traffic control devices as shall be reasonably necessary to regulate, warn, and/or
guide traffic thereon for the safety of the general public and that said traffic control devices
shall conform to the Federal Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.

Be it further resolved that the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, does declare and establish that County Road 44, between 51 and 53, be, and
hereby is, extended, with said extended closure being effective February 28, 2025, for
approximately an additional six (6) weeks through April 8, 2025, for unanticipated delays
due to further required road improvements, and further, that standard official traffic control
devices shall be erected at said closure giving notice of the restrictions.
The Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, approved the above
and foregoing Resolution, on motion duly made and seconded, by the following vote on
the 19th day of February, A.D., 2025:

and WCR 53 from the original closure dates of 10/14/24 thru 2/28/25 to 10/14/2024 thru 4/8/2025 to
allow for further road improvements while closed.
