Box 758 Greeley, CO 80632 Colorado Economic Development Commission c/o Che Sheehan, EZ Program Manager 1600 Broadway, Suite 2500 Denver, CO 80202 Re: Support for Weld County Enterprise Zone Designation Dear Economic Development Commission members: We are submitting this letter stating the Weld County Commissioners' support for Upstate Colorado Economic Development to serve as the Weld County Enterprise Zone Administrator. We understand that State Legislation passed in 2013 requires a review of enterprise zone designation at least once every ten years, and in that review, all geographic areas will be reviewed against current eligibility data. Weld County has no objection to having all eligible areas included in the redistricting. Upstate Colorado has served in this role for our region since the program's inception. This program is extremely important in our county and makes a financial difference for many of our businesses and nonprofit organizations. The program has assisted businesses in expanding employment and updating their equipment, and most importantly Enterprise Zone Tax Credits have helped attract and retain businesses in our community. Upstate Colorado provides information on available EZ Credits to our businesses and economic development professionals. Upstate Colorado manages the Salesforce portal and has multiple staff members trained to handle Enterprise Zone inquiries. In 2024, Upstate Colorado certified $5.3M in State income tax credits for 140 eligible companies in Weld County and helped create 355 jobs and $185.5 Million in investment. Upstate Colorado also assists eligible organizations in applying as EZ Contribution Projects to help accomplish projects that will benefit their communities.
