Box 758 Greeley, CO 80632 U.S. Department of Transportation RE: Town of Erie, CO, application to 2025 Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) NOFO DOT-OST-2025-0050 Dear Department of Transportation: The Town of Erie, CO, is submitting an application to the 2025 SS4A NOFO for development of a comprehensive safety action plan. The Town is in Weld County and Boulder County. Weld County, CO (UEI MKKXT9U9MTV5) received SS4A funding of $400,000 in 2023 to develop a comprehensive safety action plan. The Weld County plan is not yet complete; however, the plan will NOT include the Town of Erie. The Town of Erie is a suburban community on the north end of the Denver metro area. Erie has a population of 30,038 (2020 Census) with an estimated population of 40,000 (2025 est.). The Town has seen significant growth including increased traffic and crash rates. The Town of Erie recently updated its Transportation & Mobility Plan. In doing so, town staff mapped out the numerous crashes that have occurred in the town from 2018 to 2022. The Town has experienced 1,105 crashes during that timeframe. Through a Safety Action Plan, the Town will investigate further into the crash reports and develop a project priority list to address the high rate of crashes. While Weld County is developing its own plan for the county, the County supports its municipalities' efforts in developing their own safety action plan and keeping Weld County a stakeholder in the development of the Town of Erie's plan.
