Re: Congratulations to the jazz ensemble
Dear Mr. Johnson and Ms. Murphy,
It is with great excitement that we congratulate Windsor'sjazz ensemble for its performance at
the DownBeat Student Music Awards in May. While we often recognize state championship
teams in Weld County, it's not often we get to recognize ones that receive national and
international acclaim, which is what your group of talented students did when named best
large vocal jazz ensemble in the high school category.
The group represented excellence, promoting the talents of youth in Weld County not just on a
local level but also on a national and international level, competing with ensembles from
across the world. To be called the best among such deep competition is truly a remarkable
accomplishment and one that fills us with pride.
Understand the pride we feel extends beyond what the ensemble accomplished through its
performance as -we -know -it -was only -possible -through -a -commitment -to continually -improve
and having the courage to shake off nerves and doubt. Those characteristics, fueled by a
strong work ethic and commitment, are ones we admire in Weld County residents, and we
know they can be applied by our young people to achieve more goals, scholastically and
beyond. We also commend parents for their continued support, and the effort of you, Ms.
Murphy, for aiding the group in discovering and developing their talent.
While we like to invite teams to be recognized in person at one of our board meetings, we
know that the summer months make this difficult. Please accept this letter as congratulations on
a special accomplishment!
Sinely,
Perry L. Buck
