C
To The Honorable Board of Commissioners
Of Weld County,
Greeley, Colorado.
Gentlemen;-
Regarding the proposed route of The State Highway
from a point about a mile north of Fosston, Colo . to Briggedales,-
We are advised that you have two lines under considera-
tion, one 'East ' and the other 'West' of the Union Pacific R.R.
( as per map herewith attached )
The object of this petition is to invite your attention
to the advantages and desirability of adopting the 'WEST', in
preference to the 'EAST' line and to emphatically express choice
of the 'WEST' line, for the following reasons ;-
1st , the west line has no heavy grades or dangerous curves
while the east line has two very steep hills which wash badlt
and are expensive to maintain. There is aloe a very dangerous curve
on a heavy grade immediately east of the bridge on Crow Creek on
the proposed 'East' line.
2nd, The 'WEST' line runs through a sandy loan soil with
practinallY no 'adobe' soil while the 'East' line has se^'rrl hundred
feet of it immediately hest of the bridge on Crow Creek.
Therefore , We, the undersigned citizens of Briggsdele and
vicinity respectfully urge that your honorable body adopt the 'WEST'
line for said Highway.

ROAD PETITION.
To the Honorable Board of County Commissioners of....'; „;r COW -r County, Coto.
GENTLEMEN:—We, the undersigned, Citizens of your County, respectfully represent that the necessities of
Wrixt
the public require a Seek wagon road to be laid out as follows, to-wit: Commencing at ti s, olvl id 9
Commencing at a point about one-half mile
South of Briggadale where the proposed State Road
running West from Sterling by the way of Buckingham
intersects with the U. P. R. R . right of way on the
Nast side, thence Southwest along the Nast aide of
said right of way to a point where same intersects with
section line between sections 32 and 33, Township 8 North.
Range 62 West, thence South about two end one-half miles
along section line to the Northeast corner of section 17,
Township 7 North, Range 62 siest, thence West to the North-
west corner of said section 17, thence South to where sec-
tion line intersects the West side of the U. P. R. R. right
of way, thence along West side of said right of way through
the Townsite of Fosston to a point where the U. P. R. R.
right of way intersects with section line between sections
18 and 19, Township 7 North, Range 62 lest, thence Mast across
the U. P. R. R. right of way to the F4ast side of said right of,
way. thence along the East ride of said right of way to Cornish
where said right of way intersects with the South line of sec-
tion 34, Township 7 North, Range 63 West. thence West along
section lines through the Townsite of Galeton to a point near
Eaton, Colorado, where road will connect with the State Road
running North and South between Greeley and the Wyoming States
line.
In making request for State Highway along this route
to Greeley, we believe it will accomodate the greater number
who live in the Northeast part of the County, and along the
towns which it passes through, Briggadale, Fosston, Cornish,
Galeton and Osgood which is off to one side but have to make
one of these towns to go to Greeley.
