Re: ORD25-02 (Chapter 2, Section 2-3-30, Graywater)
The Board of County Commissioners held a work session on February 24, 2025, regarding HB24-
1362 which authorizes the use of graywater systems for specific applications such as irrigation
and toilet flushing, provided that systems meet the Colorado Department of Public Health and
Environment (CDPHE) guidelines. However, the bill also allows local jurisdictions to prohibit their
use by formal action.
Staff is recommending amending Section 2-3-30 of the Weld County Code to include the following
language:
"The installation of graywater treatment systems on lands and in structures located in
unincorporated areas of Weld County is prohibited."
Staff recommends that Weld County exercise its right to opt out of allowing graywater systems
and approve Ordinance 2025-02.
