Members of the Advisory Committee met in the Office of the County Commissioners
on March 31,1970 at 2:00 P.M.
Subject: Purchasing the Sterling Property
Discussion: Mr. Glenn Billings, Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners
reported that they had received appraisals on the adjacent Sterling property
and that the County was financially able to pay for the property. But, before
they made any decision to purchase they would like to have an opinion from the
Advisory Committee. Mr. Robert Gilbert, owner of the property was asking $350,000
and this figure did not appear to be out of line with the State appraisal of/$340,
(000. Discussion followed as to the need, long range building plans, type of
building and financing.
Recommended: The Advisory Committee advised that the County should try to
negotiate for the purchasing of this property. And that plans should be made
to develop a County Government Complex.
Subject: Weld County Nursing Home
Discussion: Mr. Billings reported that it was the opinion of the Board
and of several other organizations that it was no longer financially
feasible for the County to remain in the Nursing Home. But, that the health
and welfare of the patients in the Weld County Nursing Home was of major concern
when it was decided to close this home out. Several private enterprises have
expressed an interest in building and accepting the patients, employees and
equipment of the Nursing Home.
Recommended: The advisory committee advised that it would be best for all
concerned if arrangements could be made for a private enterprise to assume
this responsibility and for Weld County to no longer be in the Nursing Home
Business. This transfer should be as orderly and as rapidly as possible.
