Approve Regulating, Warning, and Guiding Traffic During Extension of Temporary
Closure of County Road 17 Between County Roads 6 and 8 for Approximately an
Additional Two (2) Weeks, for Unanticipated Delays Due to Supply Chain Issues
and Inclement Weather
Whereas, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
Whereas, pursuant to C.R.S. §42-4-106(6)(a), "...local authorities, with their respective
jurisdiction may, for the purpose of road construction and maintenance, temporarily close
to through traffic or to all vehicular traffic any highway or portion thereof for a period not
to exceed a specified number of work days for project completion and shall, in conjunction
with any such road closure establish appropriate detours or provide for an alternative
routing of the traffic affected...", and
Whereas, on the 5th day of March, 2025, pursuant to said Statute and upon the basis of
traffic and personnel investigations, the Board determined that conditions existed which
made it necessary to temporarily close County Road 17, between County Roads 6 and 8,
to through traffic and to regulate, warn and guide vehicular traffic by posting signs thereon,
with said closure being effective March 24, 2025, for approximately two (2) months for the
installation of a 42 -inch water transmission line, and
Whereas, on the 14th day of May, 2025, pursuant to said Statute and upon the basis of
traffic and personnel investigations, the Board has determined that conditions continue to
exist which make it necessary to extend said temporary closure of County Road 17,
between County Roads 6 and 8, with said extended closure being effective May 23, 2025,
for approximately an additional two (2) weeks through June 6, 2025, for unanticipated
delays due to supply chain issues and inclement weather, and further, that standard
official traffic control devices shall be erected at said closure giving notice of the
restrictions.
Now, therefore, be it resolved that the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, deems it necessary to regulate, warn, and guide vehicular traffic on County
Roads and any intersections thereof, and it hereby authorizes and orders the posting of
such traffic control devices as shall be reasonably necessary to regulate, warn, and/or
guide traffic thereon for the safety of the general public and that said traffic control devices
shall conform to the Federal Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.

Be it further resolved that the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, does declare and establish that the temporary closure of County Road 17,
between County Roads 6 and 8, be, and hereby is, extended, with said extended closure
being effective May 23, 2025, for approximately an additional two (2) weeks through
June 6,2025, for unanticipated delays due to supply chain issues and inclement weather,
and further, that standard official traffic control devices shall be erected at said closure
giving notice of the restrictions.
The Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, approved the above
and foregoing Resolution, on motion duly made and seconded, by the following vote on
the 14th day of May, A.D., 2025:

Thalle Construction Company Inc., on behalf of City of Thornton, is requesting to close CR 17 between
CR 6 and CR 8 from 03/24/2025 through 06/06/2025 for installation of a 42" water transmission line.
Extension request is due to supply chain issues and weather delays.
Original closure dates approved 03/24/2025 through 05/23/2025.
