Approve Establishing County Commissioner Redistricting Commission Pursuant
to C.R.S. §30-10-306.1 and Redistricting Process Deadlines Pursuant to
C.R.S. §30-10-306.4
Whereas, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
Whereas, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, was directed
by the Colorado Supreme Court to undertake a redistricting process in 2025, pursuant to
C.R.S. §30-10-306.1 et. seq., and
Whereas, C.R.S. §30-10-306.1 requires the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, to designate a Redistricting Commission, and
Whereas, C.R.S. §30-10-306(6)(b) allows for the Redistricting Commission to be "made
up solely of the members of a county's board of county commissioners", and
Whereas, C.R.S. §30-10-306.4(1) requires the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, to adopt certain deadlines for: (a) the designation of a Redistricting
Commission; (b) the appointment of staff and an advisory committee to assist the
Redistricting Commission, (c) the creation of a website and a method for county residents
to provide testimony, (d) submission of written comments on the creation of redistricting
plans and communities of interest, (e) the creation, presentation and publishing of the
plans, (f) completion of three public hearings, (g) requests by the Commission to create
a new plan or amend a proposed plan, and (h) adoption of a final plan by the Redistricting
Commission.
Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, that the Establishment of County Commissioner Redistricting Commission,
pursuant to C.R.S. §30-10-306.1, and Redistricting Process Deadlines, pursuant to
C.R.S. §30-10-306.4, be, and hereby are, approved.
Be it further resolved by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado,
that the members of the Board will sit as the Redistricting Commission for 2025.
Be it further resolved that, pursuant to C.R.S. §30-10-306.4(1), the following deadlines
will apply for the process:
(a) Designation of a Redistricting Commission has been completed.
(b) Staff and an advisory committee will be appointed by April 23, 2025.
(c) A website and hearing methodology shall be available no later than
May 15, 2025, and preferably by May 1, 2025.

(d) The deadline for written comments and suggestions to staff and the
advisory committee shall be June 15, 2025.
(e) Three plans shall be created, presented to the Commission and
published by June 30, 2025.
(f) Three public hearings on the plans shall occur on July 9, July 16, and
July 23, 2025.
(g) The Redistricting Commission may request additional or amended
plans through the hearing on July 23, 2025.
(h) The Redistricting Commission will adopt a final plan on July 30, 2025.
The Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, approved the above
and foregoing Resolution, on motion duly made and seconded, by the following vote on
the 2nd day of April, A.D., 2025:
