Subject: Health — Elevator modernization letter of recommendation — 82400111
On August 12TH 2024, the BOCC approved the low bidder, Peak Elevator to perform the elevator
modernization for the Health Building elevator modernization. PEAK elevator was not able to meet the
specifications regarding the performance and payment bonds.
On October 9TH 2024 the BOCC approved awarding the project to the second low bid, Otis Elevator. An
agreement with Otis Elevator on the contract and its terms were never able to be reached.
Therefore, the facilities department recommends rescinding the bid completely and rebidding the
project.

On August 12TH the BOCC approved the low bidder, Peak Elevator to perform the elevator
modernization for the Health Building elevator. The low bid was $171,890.00. Since that time, PEAK
Elevator has informed us that they cannot meet the requirements of the contract. A requirement of the
contract is for the contractor to provide a performance bond as well as a labor and materials payment
bond. PEAK has indicated that they cannot provide either of these.
The second low bid was from Otis Elevator Company in the amount of $225,225.00 and meets
specifications.
Therefore, the facilities department recommends awarding the project to Otis Elevator Company in the
amount of $225,225.00.
