NATIONAL LEAD POISONING PREVENTION WEEK
OCTOBER 19 - 25, 2025
WHEREAS, approximately 25% of Weld County homes built before 1978 may be at risk for
lead -based paint and other lead hazards; and
;ad exposure poses a serious risk to children, which can lead to irreversible
g health effects such as developmental delays, learning disabilities, and
the brain and nervous system; and
:hildren can be unknowingly exposed to lead through lead -based paints,
ed dust or soil, adult occupations and hobbies, or improperly imported food,

WHEREAS, I ad poisoning is preventable through education, testing, and environmental
interventio s, which the Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment
supports t rough free blood lead screenings, personal item testing, and in -home
inspections or dozens of Weld County families each year.
NOW, THER FORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED by the Weld County Board of Commissioners that
the week o October 19-25, 2025, be recognized as National Lead Poisoning Prevention
Week. We encourage all residents to learn about lead exposure risks and utilize
prevention esources to protect the health and safety of children and families in Weld
County.
