Approve Regulating, Warning, and Guiding Traffic During Extension of Temporary
Closure of County Road 72 between County Roads 33 and 35 for Approximately an
Additional One (1) Month, for Unanticipated Delays Due to Relocation of Utilities
Whereas, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
Whereas, pursuant to C.R.S. §42-4-106(6)(a), "...local authorities, with their respective
jurisdiction may, for the purpose of road construction and maintenance, temporarily close
to through traffic or to all vehicular traffic any highway or portion thereof for a period not
to exceed a specified number of work days for project completion and shall, in conjunction
with any such road closure establish appropriate detours or provide for an alternative
routing of the traffic affected...", and
Whereas, on the 22nd day of January, 2025, pursuant to said Statute and upon the basis
of traffic and personnel investigations, the Board determined that conditions existed which
made it necessary to temporarily close County Road 72, between County Roads 33
and 35, to through traffic and to regulate, warn and guide vehicular traffic by posting signs
thereon, with said closure being effective January 30, 2025, for approximately three (3)
months for roadway improvements and utility relocation, and
Whereas, on the 24th day of March, 2025, pursuant to said Statute and upon the basis
of traffic and personnel investigations, the Board has determined that conditions exist
which make it necessary to extend said temporary closure of County Road 72, between
County Roads 33 and 35, with said extended closure being effective March 27, 2025, for
approximately an additional one (1) month through April 25, 2025, for unanticipated
delays due to relocation of utilities, and further, that standard official traffic control devices
shall be erected at said closure giving notice of the restrictions.
Now, therefore, be it resolved that the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, deems it necessary to regulate, warn, and guide vehicular traffic on County
Roads and any intersections thereof, and it hereby authorizes and orders the posting of
such traffic control devices as shall be reasonably necessary to regulate, warn, and/or
guide traffic thereon for the safety of the general public and that said traffic control devices
shall conform to the Federal Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.

Colorado, does declare and establish County Road 72, between County Roads 33
and 35, be, and hereby is, extended, with said extended closure being effective March 27,
2025, for approximately an additional one (1) month through April 25, 2025, for
unanticipated delays due to relocation of utilities, and further, that standard official traffic
control devices shall be erected at said closure giving notice of the restrictions.
The Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, approved the above
and foregoing Resolution, on motion duly made and seconded, by the following vote on
the 24th day of March, A.D., 2025:

SUBJECT: BOCC Agenda Item
TLM Constructors, is requesting to extend the closure on CR 72 between CR 33 and CR 35 from
01/30/2025 thru 03/27/2025 to 01/30/2025 thru 4/25/2025.
The reason for the extension is so North Weld County Water District and DCP Midstream crews can
relocate a portion of their existing pipelines, in preparation for the upcoming WCR 72 paving project
which is planned to start construction in June or July.
