NATIONAL PUBLIC HEALTH WEEK
APRIL 7-13, 2025
WHEREAS, the Weld County Board of Commissioners acknowledges the important role that
Public Health plays in creating healthier communities and protecting the health of our
residents; and
WHEREAS, National Public Health Week, observed from April 7 to April 13th, provides an
opportunity to acknowledge the contributions of public health organizations, practitioners,
advocates, and communities in promoting health and preventing disease; and
WHEREAS, as a nationally accredited local health department, the Weld County Department
of Public Health and Environment utilizes data and science to make well informed decisions,
delivering services through relevant, innovative and cost-effective measures: and
WHEREAS, we recognize the efforts made by the Weld County Department of Public Health
and Environment in protecting public health, through the prevention, evaluation, diagnosis,
and treatment of diseases such as tuberculosis, diabetes and obesity; initiatives such as
cancer screenings, immunizations, substance abuse disorder programs, food safety, and
= emerging public health issues like social isolation and local air quality; and
WHEREAS, through partnerships with local public health agencies, community organizations,
healthcare providers, businesses, and residents, expanded clinic facilities in Fort Lupton, and
the deployment of a new Public Health Mobile Unit, Weld County is demonstrating our
commitment to "Bringing Care Closer" and enhancing the overall well-being of our
population.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED by the Weld County Board of Commissioners that April
7th through April 13th, 2025, be known as National Public Health Week. The board
encourages all residents to join in recognizing the importance of public health and to
participate in activities and initiatives aimed at promoting health and wellness in our
community.
