HomeMy WebLinkAbout20250553.tiffResolution Approve Application for 2025 Click It or Ticket Grant Funds and Authorize Chair to Sign Whereas, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and Whereas, the Board has been presented with an Application for 2025 Click It or Ticket Grant Funds from the County of Weld, State of Colorado, by and through the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, on behalf of the Sheriff's Office, to the Colorado Department of Transportation, in partnership with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), commencing upon full execution of signatures, with further terms and conditions being as stated in said application, and Whereas, after review, the Board deems it advisable to approve said application, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference. Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, that the Application for 2025 Click It or Ticket Grant Funds from the County of Weld, State of Colorado, by and through the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, on behalf of the Sheriffs Office, to the Colorado Department of Transportation, in partnership with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), be, and hereby is, approved. Be it further resolved by the Board that the Chair be, and hereby is, authorized to sign said application. Jared Patterson (Patrol) and Sonja Kohlgraf, WCSO Finance Manager Brief description of the problem/issue: WCSO is requesting approval to apply for Click It Or Ticket (CIOT) grant funding in the amount of $8,505.00, which would allow WCSO to participate in this Traffic Safety Enforcement plan. The funds offset overtime expense that deputies occur when deployed for CIOT. Application deadline is 2/28/2025. What options exist for the Board? (include consequences, impacts, costs, etc. of options): 1) Authorize Chair to sign the CIOT Grant Application. 2) Request more information and schedule a work session. 3) Decide not to apply. WCSO will not participate in the Statewide CLOT Traffic Safety Enforcement Plan. Employees who discover an inoperable restraint system shall promptly report the defect to the appropriate supervisor. Prompt action will be taken to replace or repair the system.
