Approve Regulating, Warning, and Guiding Traffic During Extension of Temporary
Emergency Closures of Various County Roads for Approximately an Additional
Eight (8) Days, for Unanticipated Delays due to Emergency Operations
Whereas, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
Whereas, pursuant to C.R.S. §42-4-106(6)(a), "...local authorities, with their respective
jurisdiction may, for the purpose of road construction and maintenance, temporarily close
to through traffic or to all vehicular traffic any highway or portion thereof for a period not
to exceed a specified number of work days for project completion and shall, in conjunction
with any such road closure establish appropriate detours or provide for an alternative
routing of the traffic affected...", and
Whereas, on the 9th day of April, 2025, pursuant to said Statute and upon the basis of
traffic and personnel investigations, the Board determined that conditions existed which
made it necessary to temporarily close various County roads on an emergency basis,
being further identified below and effective April 6, 2025, for approximately six (6) days
for emergency operations, and

• County Road 53 Between County Road 74 and State Highway 392
• County Road 70 Between County Road 49 and County Road 53
County Road 72 Between County Road 49 and County Road 51
Whereas, on the 28th day of April, 2025, pursuant to said Statute and upon the basis of
traffic and personnel investigations, the Board has determined that conditions existed
which made it necessary to extend said temporary closure close various County roads on
an emergency basis, being further identified above, with said extended closure being
effective April 11, 2025, for approximately an additional eight (8) days through April 19,
2025, for unanticipated delays due to emergency operations, and further, that standard
official traffic control devices were authorized to be erected at said closure giving notice
of the restrictions.
Now, therefore, be it resolved that the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, does declare and establish that the abovementioned closure of various County
Roads, be, and hereby is, retroactively extended, effective April 11, 2025, for
approximately an additional eight (8) days through April 19, 2025, for unanticipated delays
due to emergency operations, and further, that standard official traffic control devices
shall be erected at said closure giving notice of the restrictions.

and foregoing Resolution, on motion duly made and seconded, by the following vote on
the 28th day of April, A.D., 2025, nunc pro tunc April 11, 2025:

Weld County Public Works is asking for retroactive permission to extend the dates for these emergency
closures:
WCR 49 between WCR 74 and SH 392
WCR 51 between WCR 74 and SH 392
WCR 53 between WCR 74 and SH 392
WCR 70 between WCR 49 and WCR 53
WCR 72 between WCR 49 and WCR 51
The original dates were 4/6/2025 thru 4/11/2025. These roads were actually closed 4/6/2025 thru
4/19/2025 in support of emergency operations.
