Home My WebLink About670035.tiffJ %/ic--/) Lo -+t; 3.5 lC ti J /kt) ig r ((Aid RESOLUTION Re: REGULATION OF SPEED ON 35TH AVENUE BETWEEN 16TH STREET EXTENDED WEST OF GREELEY, AND STATE HIGHWAY 34 BY-PASS IN WELD COUNTY, COLORADO WHEREAS, a multitude of complaints have been made to the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, that motor vehicles habitually are being driven at speeds greater than is reasonable and prudent along that part of said highway known as 35th Avenue between 16th Street extended west of Greeley, Colorado, and State Highway 34 by-pass south of said 16th Street intersection with 35th Avenue, and at all inter- sections of streets and roads therewith, and WHEREAS, said Board is authorized by the Statutes of the State of Colorado to regulate the speed of vehicles, and WHEREAS, said Board, pursuant to such complaints, has determined upon the basis of engineering, traffic investigations and a special speed survey, that any speed in excess of forty (40) miles per hour on, along or over said portion of said road or highway and at all intersections of other roads therewith is excessive and is greater than is reasonable, safe or prudent under the conditions which exist. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS of Weld County, Colorado that no motor vehicle shall be driven on, over or along any portion of said road or highway, or at or across, or at the entrance to, any intersection of any other street, road or highway therewith, at a speed in excess of 40 miles per hour, and that any speed in excess of 40 miles per hour, and the driving of any vehicles at any speed in excess of said limit of 40 miles per hour thereon or thereat shall be prima facie evidence that said speed is not reasonable, safe or prudent and that it is unlawful. Reseigh Weld County Speed Study TRAFFIC (Speed Zoning) We have reviewed the speed check data for 35th Ave. from 10th St. to US 34 bypass at the west edge of Greeley. Based solely on the speed checks submitted we feel the proposed speed limits are somewhat low. However, this area is undoubtedly developing and there is a new school in the area. We feel it will only be a short time until the proposed speed limits would be proper. The posted speed of 30 mph in the section from 10th Street to 28th Street is not realistic, and our re- commendations are as follows: From 10th Street (US #34) to 16th Street raise to 35 mile per hour. This has been tentatively approved by the Greeley City Engineer and City Manager. From 16tH Street to 28th Street (US #34 By - Pass) which is now a stop street, possibly requiring step down posting for South Bound traffic. Raise to 40 mph.
