James 2024-2605 BC0058 BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS PASS -AROUND REVIEW PASS -AROUND TITLE: 2025 County Holidays DEPARTMENT: Clerk to the Board PERSON REQUESTING: Esther Gesick DATE: 9/24/2024 Brief description of the problem/issue: Attached is the proposed schedule of holidays for calendar year 2025, as well as the rules for choosing the appropriate days. The Resolution is drafted with the Clerk's recommendation to use the Floating Holiday (Colorado Day) in conjunction with July 4, 2025 (Independence Day). What options exist for the Board? Utilize the floating holiday (Colorado Day) in conjunction with July 4th (Independence Day); OR select alternate date. Consequences: Using the floating holiday in conjunction with July 4th, affords staff a 4 -day weekend consistent with generally anticipated public closures. Impacts: It is at the Board's discretion to select another holiday option. Costs (Current Fiscal Year / Ongoing or Subsequent Fiscal Years): Budgeted staffing wages. When granting such requests, the administrative authority should consider whether there will be work for the employee to perform for the court or probation department on the recognized legal holiday the employee has asked to work.
