NATIONAL HEALTH EDUCATION WEEK
OCTOBER 21-25, 2024
WHEREAS, the Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment's Health
Education, Communication, and Planning division plays an important role in the health and
wellness of Weld County residents by emphasizing the importance of healthy lifestyles,
health literacy, disease prevention, data analytics, and fostering healthier communities;
and
WHEREAS, the division is committed to improving health outcomes by helping to maintain
national public health accreditation, data collection and analysis, building resiliency and
positive behaviors with best practices such as the Diabetes Prevention Program, Weld
Waits, Tobacco Education and Prevention, Substance Use Disorder Education and
Prevention, healthy eating and physical activity, maternal childhood health, and social
connectedness; and
WHEREAS, the division promotes wellness through community -based programs and
outreach that focuses on meeting individuals where they are to provide education,
consultation, materials, and resources to empower individuals and communities in making
informed health decisions; and
WHEREAS, National Health Education Week provides an opportunity to recognize the
dedication, hard work, and contributions of the Health Education, Communication, and
Planning division in enhancing public health.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED, by the Board of Weld County Commissioners
that the week of October 21-25, be known as "National Health Education Week." We
encourage all residents to explore the resources and programs offered by the division, at
weld.gov/go/HealthEd.
