RE: TERMINATION OF WELD COUNTY INVOLVEMENT IN EMERGENCY
MEDICAL/TRAUMA SERVICE COUNCIL APPOINTMENTS AND MEETINGS
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, on December 22, 2004, the Board of County Commissioners approved
Resolution #2004-3572, which established the Emergency Medical/Trauma Services Council
("EM/TS Council") and approved its initial bylaws, and
WHEREAS, the Board approved amendments to said bylaws on September 11, 2013,
and July 24, 2017, and
WHEREAS, the EM/TS Council's current bylaws, approved by and through Resolution
#2017-2571, states that all appointments to the EM/TS Council are made by the Board of County
Commissioners and requires the EM/TS Council to make recommendations to the Board about
ambulance licensing, and
WHEREAS, by and through the passage of Code Ordinance #2024-07, Weld County will
no longer be licensing ambulances as of July 1, 2024, and, therefore, there is no longer need for
the Board of County Commissioners to be involved in the EM/TS Council's affairs, including
appointment of its members and attendance at its meetings.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Weld County, Colorado, that beginning July 1, 2024, and continuing thereafter, the Board will no
longer be approving appointments of members to the Weld County EM/TS Council and/or
participating in its meetings, and any recommendations or reporting to the Board required by the
EM/TS Council's bylaws is no longer necessary.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that it respectfully requests the EM/TS to
revise its bylaws to reflect that its members are no longer appointed by the Board and the EM/TS
Council is no longer required to provide recommendations and/or reporting to the Board.
