CHILD CARE PROVIDER DAY
MAY 8, 2024
WHEREAS, United Way of Weld County, Weld County's Early Childhood Council, Weld County
Department of Human Services, and other organizations nationwide are recognizing Child Care
Providers on this day; and
WHEREAS, childcare has provided a safe, nurturing place for the enrichment and development
of millions of children nationwide and is a vital force in our economy; and
WHEREAS, the pandemic illuminated how indispensable childcare providers are for the well-
being and economic security of Weld County's young children, families, and communities; and
WHEREAS, childcare programs, which are mostly small businesses, run and staffed
predominantly by women, continue to recover from health and financial hardships stemming
from the pandemic to meet the needs of more families; and
WHEREAS, Colorado recognizes that childcare continues to be a lifeline for families,
communities, and the economy, and has provided support to providers to help sustain childcare
by incorporating funding and technical assistance to open new childcare centers, family
childcare homes and maintain existing businesses. Twelve new childcare programs have been
established in Weld County since May 2023; and
WHEREAS, the future depends on the quality of the early childhood experiences provided to
young children, especially infants and toddlers, today; support for high -quality childcare
represents a worthy commitment to our children's future; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED, by the Board of Weld County Commissioners that
May 10, 2024, be known as Child Care Provider Day in Weld County. We urge all citizens to
recognize childcare providers for their important work and how valuable they are for our
communities.
