TRAIL ENDOWMENT FUND GROWS
The Poudre River Trail Corricor is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and relies on generous
donors and fundraising to fund our projects and events.
An endowment is a tax-ceauctible donation to a nonprofit organization. The fund is a
permanent, self-sustaining source of fundinc. Endowment assets are investec, and interest
or dividends generated from the endowment can be paid out to support the fund's
purpose, without drawing on the principal amount of the original donations. An endowment
is the gift that keeps on givinc! We started our endowment in 2022 with S20,000 and coubled
its size in 2023. We have ambitious goals for the future so we can preserve and improve the
Poudre Rive Trail for future generations. We need your help!
When donatinc to the Poudre River Trail endowment fund, in your name or in honor or in
memory of a loved one, you are providing future generations the opportunity to remember
and celebrate your values and generous spirit. You can donate durinc your lifetime, over
a period of years, or all at once. Many donors start with a mocest gift and add to their gift
through their wills, living trusts, or other gift designations.
To make a cirect donation in honor or memoriam, please contact the Welc Community
Foundation and note your interest in a contribution to the Poudre River Trail Corridor Fund.
You can contact the Foundation at: www.weldcommunityfoundation.org.
For additional information, please contact our Executive Director at 970-381-6250

BOARD MEMBER SPOTLIGHT
Lee Morehead,
Northern Colorado
Business and Real
Estate Attorney
I was born and
raised in Greeley
and have called
Windsor home for
the last nine years.
I am honored to represent the residents of
Windsor on the Poudre River Trial Corridor.
My connection to the Poudre River Trail
is both personal and professional. My
grandfather, a donor, took great pride in
the Poudre River Trail. Professionally, a
mentor of mine, Fred Otis, is one of the
key figures in the trail's history. I am thrilled
for the opportunity to make the Trail even
more popular and even more amazing
asset for all of our communities.
My love for the outdoors and open spaces
started young with Boy Scouts of America.
From there, my passion grew when
attended Vermont Law School and
received my law degree with honors.
Making my way back home, I've been
practicing law for 12 years in the areas of
real estate and business. I believe I can be
of value to the Poudre River Trail Corridor
and the residents of Windsor with my
passion for the outdoors and community,
as well as my legal background.
Janet Meisel -Burns,
Retired Landscape
Architect
I was raised with a
great appreciation
of nature and the
Colorado lifestyle.
Born and raised in
NoCO, much of my
youth was spent horseback riding, fishing or
boating in State or county parks. I learned
to explore and appreciate nature, while
camping and hiking in the wilderness and
our beautiful national forests. Still an avid
cyclist and hiker, my most treasured
memories are spending time in nature.
My appreciation of Colorado, led me
to study Landscape Architecture at CSU
(1983) and gave me the opportunity to
design and build new parks and trails in Fort
Collins and Loveland for most of my career.
Moving to Wincsor in 2002 provided me
with the great pleasure of riding or walking
along the Poudre River Trail and provided
me opportunities to explore more of our
treasured resources - the river, natural
areas and reclaimed gravel ponds.
Building great civic spaces or providing
access to open space via trails is makes
me happy and has been my passion, both
personally and professionally. After 35 years
of designing and constructing trails and
parks in Colorado, I've retired and now
am able to lend my skills with the Poudre
River Trail Corridor, Inc. I hope to help
provide advice and guidance on new
connections, resource planning and the
preservation of the Poudre River Trail!
