HIGHLAND HUSKIES DAY
WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 21, 2024
WHEREAS, the Highland Huskies cheerleading team competed in the Class 3A state
championships on Friday, December 8th, 2023, at the Denver Coliseum; and
WHEREAS, with a score of 84.3 in the finals, Highland captured the state championship in
the all -girl cheer category and reasserted itself as consistently one of the best cheer teams in
the state. This year's performance gave the Huskies their fifth cheer championship in program
history, which follows a streak of three consecutive from 2016 through 2018; and
WHEREAS, earning a state championship in cheer requires a strong team performance. Like
any sport, however, individual performances stand out. As we celebrate the entire team, we
want to congratulate sophomore Delilah Bailey and senior Cambree Bateman on being named
to the 3A all -state team by the Colorado High School Activities Association; and
WHEREAS, a championship season is the culmination of many special moments shared
between team members, coaches and parents. While certain memories may fade over time,
we hope everyone remembers the feeling of being called champions and knows the pride
they've brought to their school, their community and to Weld County as a whole.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED by the Board of Weld County Commissioners that
the 21. day of February 2024, be known as Highland Huskies Day. Congratulations to
everyone associated with the cheer team on a memorable season.
