HomeMy WebLinkAbout20240421.tiffPROCLAMATION HIGHLAND HUSKIES DAY WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 21, 2024 WHEREAS, the Highland Huskies cheerleading team competed in the Class 3A state championships on Friday, December 8th, 2023, at the Denver Coliseum; and WHEREAS, with a score of 84.3 in the finals, Highland captured the state championship in the all -girl cheer category and reasserted itself as consistently one of the best cheer teams in the state. This year's performance gave the Huskies their fifth cheer championship in program history, which follows a streak of three consecutive from 2016 through 2018; and WHEREAS, earning a state championship in cheer requires a strong team performance. Like any sport, however, individual performances stand out. As we celebrate the entire team, we want to congratulate sophomore Delilah Bailey and senior Cambree Bateman on being named to the 3A all -state team by the Colorado High School Activities Association; and WHEREAS, a championship season is the culmination of many special moments shared between team members, coaches and parents. While certain memories may fade over time, we hope everyone remembers the feeling of being called champions and knows the pride they've brought to their school, their community and to Weld County as a whole. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED by the Board of Weld County Commissioners that the 21. day of February 2024, be known as Highland Huskies Day.
