HomeMy WebLinkAbout20240461.tiffPROCLAMATION ROOSEVELT ROUGHRIDERS DAY MONDAY, FEBRUARY 26, 2024 WHEREAS, the Roosevelt Roughriders co-ed cheer team competed in the Class 4A state championships on Friday, December 8th, 2023, at the Denver Coliseum; and WHEREAS, after advancing to the semifinals with a score of 87, a strong performance in the finals earned Roosevelt a score of 93 and the state championship; and WHEREAS, the victory showed more than just talent. It also showed resiliency as, after finishing second to Thompson Valley in 2022, the Roughriders finished above the Eagles, ending their streak of four consecutive championships. Additionally, Roosevelt seniors Blake Berry and Addie Walton were each named to the all -state spirit team by the Colorado High School Activities Association; and WHEREAS, in a season which included Roosevelt's first co-ed cheer state championship in school history, we hope team members, coaches and parents never forget the special memories created, and we hope this moment serves as a lasting example of what can be achieved with a strong work ethic and teamwork. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED by the Board of Weld County Commissioners that the 26th day of February 2024, be known as Roosevelt Roughriders Day.
