WELD COUNTY COUNCIL
September 16, 2024
The Weld County Council met in regular session in full conformity with the Weld County Home
Rule Charter at 6:30 p.m., Monday, September 16, 2024, at the Weld County Administration
Building, 1150 0 Street, Greeley, CO.
ROLL CALL:
IE The meeting was called to order by President Nancy Teksten. Councilmembers Cindy
Beemer, Elijah Hatch, James Welch and Trent Leisy were present, constituting a quorum of
members. Also present was Council Secretary Linda Kane.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA :
Approval of Agenda
Councilmember Beemer made a motion to approve the agenda, seconded by
Councilmember Leisy and carried.
APPROVAL OF DOCUMENTATION:
Approval of August Minutes
Councilmember Leisy made a motion to approve the May minutes, seconded by Councilmember
Hatch, and the motion carried.
Approval of Work Session Minutes
Councilmember Beemer made a motion to approve the work session minutes, seconded by
Councilmember Leisy, and the motion carried.
REVIEW PROGRAM:
There was none.
PUBLIC COMMENT:
There was no public comment.
OLD BUSINESS:
There was none.
NEW BUSINESS:

Bills
Councilmember Beemer made a motion to approve bills, it was seconded by Councilmember
Leisy and carried. The bills were paid as follows:
o Weld County Phone Bill for August $25.00
Set Salaries for Commissioners
Council President Teksten explained that through a public work session, state salaries and the
salaries of comparable counties was discussed. The state recommended salary for a
commissioner is $150,000.
Councilmember Leisy said he supports a salary of $156,000. He said commissioners are frugal
with taxpayer dollars and Weld County Commissioners act as a county manager as well.
Councilmember Hatch agreed.
Councilmember Welch echoed those thoughts and agreed commissioners are good stewards of
the taxpayer dollars.
Councilmember Beemer said it's a challenge to predict what the state salaries might be set at
for 2027 and 2028, the years for which Council is setting commissioner salaries.
Councilmember Teksten said other elected officials have salaries above state recommendations
and the commissioners have been far below the state recommendation. She asked Council to
consider a salary of $160,000.
Councilmember Leisy made a motion to set commissioner salaries for the years 2027 and 2028
at $160,000, it was seconded by Councilmember Hatch and was unanimously passed.

By acclamation, the meeting was adjourned at 7:00 p.m.
