NATIONAL PUBLIC HEALTH WEEK
APRIL 1-7, 2024
WHEREAS, the Weld County Board of Commissioners acknowledges the vital role that public
health plays in promoting and protecting the health of our residents; and
WHEREAS, National Public Health Week, observed from April 1st to April 7th, provides an
opportunity to acknowledge the contributions of public health organizations, practitioners,
advocates, and communities in promoting health and preventing disease; and
WHEREAS, werecognize the efforts made by the Weld County Department of Public Health
and Environment in protecting public health, through the prevention, evaluation, diagnosis, and
treatment of diseases such as tuberculosis, diabetes and obesity; initiatives such as cancer
screenings, immunizations, substance abuse disorder programs, food safety, and emerging
public health issues like air quality and social isolation; and
WHEREAS, through collaborative efforts, including partnerships with local public health
agencies, community organizations, healthcare providers, businesses, and residents, Weld
County aims to address health disparities, promote equitable access to healthcare services, and
enhance the overall well-being of our population; and
WHEREAS, the theme for National Public Health Week 2024, "We Are All Public Health,"
emphasizes the collective responsibility and interconnectedness of individuals, families,
organizations, and governments in creating healthier communities:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED, by the Weld County Board of Commissioners that
April 1st through April 7th, 2024, be known as National Public Health Week. The board
encourages all residents to join in recognizing the importance of public health and to participate
in activities and initiatives aimed at promoting health and wellness in our community.
