RE: APPROVE APPOINTMENT OF BRETT CAVANAGH AS DIRECTOR OF WELD
COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF OIL AND GAS ENERGY
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners, on June 10, 2019, designated the
unincorporated areas of Weld County, Colorado, as a mineral (oil and gas) resource area of state
interest pursuant to C.R.S. §24-65.1-202 (1), and prepared regulations concerning the activities
so designated, in accordance with the requirements of C.R.S. §24-65.1-402, and
WHEREAS, the Weld County Department of Oil and Gas Energy was established, and
Jason Maxey was appointed as Director, effective July 16, 2019, in order to administer said
regulations concerning the oil and gas activities, and
WHEREAS, the Board of Weld County Commissioners deems it advisable to appoint
Brett Cavanagh as Director of the Weld County Department of Oil and Gas Energy to replace
Jason Maxey, effective January 1, 2025.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, that Brett Cavanagh be, and hereby is, appointed as Director of the Weld
County Department of Oil and Gas Energy, effective January 1, 2025.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted
by the following vote on the 30th day of December, A.D., 2024.
