The Weld County Board of Health met on June 25, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. in the second -floor hearing
room of the Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment and by via Microsoft Teams.
Those present included:
Board Members: Tom Cope, Doug Printz, Aron Lam, Michael Wailes, Linda Kautz, Bree Lukens, and
Jeff Reck.
Others: Katie Sall and Lauren Light from Environmental Health, Samantha Orozco, RN, BSN/MSN,
Clinical and Community Health Division Public Health Nurse Coordinator, Weld County
Department of Public Health and environment, Jason Chessher, Executive Director, Weld County
Department of Public Health & Environment.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA
The meeting was called to order at 9:00 AM. A motion was made by Doug Prints to approve the
agenda. Linda Kautz seconded the motion, and the motion was carried unanimously.
Agenda item added: Linda Kautz was nominated by Doug Printz as Vice -chair. Linda Kautz
accepted; all members voted in favor of election.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The board approved the minutes of the May 28, 2024, meeting. A motion was made to approve by
Tom Cope, Aron Lam seconded the motion and the motion was carried unanimously.
ADMINISTRATIVE REPORT: Jason Chessher talked about the work the Emergency Management
team along with CDPHE is conducting in various dairy farms in concern with avian influenza, over
100 dairies affected now statewide, 17 in weld county, 173 workers affected. They are monitoring
workers and placing them in quarantine for 30 days. Influenza is flu like symptoms. 19 statewide
dairies tested positive so far, testing will be conducted for the next three months.

Biosolids Renewal:
Denali Water Solutions - Katie Sall presented 12 biosolid renewal applications.
No public comment or concerns were received. Environmental Health recommends approval.
DS -200405, DS -200428, DS -200546, DS -200636, DS -200708, DS -200711, DS -200718, DS -200719, DS -201211,
DS -201213, DS -201313, and DS -201318.
A motion was made by Tom Cope to approval the renewals. Aron Lam seconded the motion, and the
motion was carried unanimously.

Samantha Orozco, RN, BSN/MSN, Clinical and Community Health Division Public Health Nurse
Coordinator presented information about TB program, 55% increase active cases in Colorado 2-3
cases a year in Weld County.
Year 2022 reported 19 active cases — pulmonary (not contagious).
Cases are usually on foreign born individuals, Philippines, China, Guatemala, Somalia & Mexico are
the most countries we see active cases from, we treat & educate active patients.

Active patients are placed on treatment for 10 four weeks with a 9 -month course treatment.
Investigations are conducted with immediate family members and workplaces.
Staff Discussion:
Lauren Light mentioned that a tire disposal event is scheduled for August 3, 2024, for
unincorporated Weld County residents only, online registration is required, residents will be allowed
to dispose 4 passenger vehicle tires. Social media advertisement will be released July 8, 2024. HHW
is also working on clean up vouchers to Weld County residents to take trash to landfill.
HHW presentation and tour to site scheduled for next month.
Meeting was adjourned at 9:39 am. Next meeting is July 23, 2024.
