REPORT OF INSPECTION
July 26, 1966
Island Grove Park, Block 164, Greeley, Colorado
Mr. R. S. Swanson
Bryant Cast Iron Boiler, No. 1/Colo. 623-S
Located: Main Building
Fire Tube Loco. Boiler, No. 1/Colo. 6061-S
Located: Biology Building
Inspected externally.
These boilers each have a low water fuel cut-out which should
be thoroughly cleaned before the boiler are returned to service.
The return header adjacent to boiler No. 1/Colo. 6253-S, was
found to be leaking at a threaded connection. This should have
the necessary attention to stop the leakage.
The safety valve of Boiler No. 1/Colo. 6061-S is a type that is
not considered, by Colorado State law, to be satisfactory for
this service and it is recommended that it be replaced with a
new A.S.M.E. steam safety valve of the side discharge type,
having a minimum relieving capacity of 715 lbs. steam per hour
and should be set to open at 15 lbs.
The above was discussed with Mr. Bob Mann who is in charge of
the boiler, and we understand the recommendations will receive
the proper attention.
Yours very truly,
