BRIGGSDALE FALCONS DAY
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 10, 2024
WHEREAS, the Briggsdale Falcons girls basketball team competed in the Class 1A state
championship game against the Stratton Eagles on Saturday, March 9th, at Bank of Colorado
Arena in Greeley; and
WHEREAS, in a close game, continued determination and clutch shooting propelled the
Falcons to a 41-40 victory and the program's second consecutive state title.
WHEREAS, while much can be written about the game itself — senior Jenna Krise's 18 -
point performance, including the winning shot in the game's final moments or the overall
teamwork that enabled Briggsdale to avenge a loss to Stratton earlier in the season —
what's equally special is the effort that went into the year as a whole; and
WHEREAS, while last year's state championship was historic as the first in program history,
this one speaks to continued determination and ability to resist complacency, something
only possible through hard work and the continued support of teammates, coaches, parents
and the entire Briggsdale community; and
WHEREAS, while a state title is the culmination of this effort, there were many more special
moments along the way. The Falcons finished the season winning 11 in a row. Briggsdale
also recorded 20 -plus wins for third consecutive year; and
WHEREAS, just as the Falcons have brought pride to their school and community, we as
a board are equally proud. We encourage players to never forget this moment as they strive
toward other goals in life.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED by the Board of Weld County Commissioners
that the 10. day of April 2024, be known as Briggsdale Falcons Day to commemorate a
championship season.
