NATIONAL CRIME VICTIMS' RIGHTS WEEK
APRIL 21-27, 2024
WHEREAS, crime can leave a lasting physical, emotional, or financial impact on people of all
ages and abilities, and of all economic, racial, and social backgrounds; and
WHEREAS, the nation heeded this call to action and promoted victims' rights initiatives, effective
and compassionate victim services, and just compensation and financial support; and
WHEREAS, thousands of victim assistance programs provide help and support to child victims
of violence and sexual abuse, stalking victims, survivors of homicide victims, victims of drunk -
driving crashes, and victims of domestic, dating, and sexual violence and other crimes; and
WHEREAS, National Crime Victims' Rights Week, April 21-27, 2024, provides an opportunity to
celebrate the energy, creativity, and commitment that launched the victims' right movement,
inspired its progress, and continues to advance the cause of justice for crime victims.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED, by the Board of Weld County Commissioners that
the week of April 21-27, 2024, be known as National Crime Victims' Rights Week, reaffirming
Weld County's commitment to creating a victim service and criminal justice response that assists
all victims of crime during Crime Victims' Rights Week and throughout the year and expressing
our sincere gratitude and appreciation for those community members, victim service providers,
and criminal justice professionals who are committed to improving our response to all victims of
crime so that they may find relevant assistance, support, justice, and peace.
