VRAIN PEST CONTROL DISTRICT EXTENDED FOR A FIVE YEAR PERIOD: BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado that the Windsor -Severance Pest Control District, the Johnstown Pest Control District and the St. Vrain Pest Control District, established on March 28, 1962 for a period ending December 31, 1966, be and the same are hereby extended for a five year period ending December 31, 1971, as recommended by the three Advisory Committees. The results are as follows: St. Vrain Pest Control District voted 131 in favor and 24 against extending the date to December 31, 1971. Johnstown Pest Control District voted 161 in favor and 13 against extending the termination date to December 31, 1971. Windsor -Severance Pest Control District voted 178 in favor and 33 against extending the termination date to December 31, 1971. Lind, Jake Altergot, Henry Brunner, Casey Greenwald, John Heckman, Bill Scheid, Ed Honstein, Kenneth Nelson, Ruben Hergert, Harold Felte, Leonard Lindblad, Ruben Kerbs, Charles Lengel, Harold Young and G. After consulting with leading farmers, the County Commissioners, Colorado State University technicians, the Colorado Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Agency representatives and many others have come up with the following plan: 1. Organize districts under House Bill No. 336 passed by the Colorado Legis— lature in 1959 and amended in 1961. 2. These districts to remain in operation for five years. 3. Prevent the formation of seed and use every means known today to control all Canada Thistle and Bindweed within the boundaries of such districts. 4. At the end of five years if the program is successful expand it to eventually include the whole county. What advantage does this plan offer? If a Weed Control district is voted into operation by the landowners then All lands lying within the boundaries of the district must he treated in accordance with the regulations as established. This includes all railroad, highway and ditch company rights -of -way, city property, land being held for sub -divisions, low value waste land, reservoir sites, deeded land; in short all land regardless of ownership. The next letter will outline the plans for a proposed weed control district in your community together with the procedure for establishing it and a proposed set of regulations to control CANADA THISTLE AND BINDWEED.
