BOX 758 GREELEY, CO 80632 Paul Teicher, Program Manager for the Safe Streets and Roads for All Program U.S. Department of Transportation Office of the Secretary of Transportation 200 New Jersey Ave, SE Washington, DC 20590 RE: Town of Nunn's Safe Streets and Roads for All Grant Application Dear Mr. Teicher, The Weld County Board of County Commissioners is in support of the Town of Nunn's application for Action Plan funding through the US Department of Transportation's Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grant program. During the FY23 grant cycle, Weld County was awarded funding to create a Safety Action Plan. Although this Action Plan is for the county, the funding and Action Plan will only be for county roads, not roads located within Weld County municipalities. Because this will not result in any data or an Action Plan for municipalities, we are in support of the Town of Nunn applying for funding to create their own Action Plan within their municipal boundaries. According to the Colorado Department of Transportation's 2022 Problem Identification Report, Weld County ranks second highest in the state for traffic fatalities. As we work to eliminate roadway fatalities on county roads, we support municipalities making efforts to also improve safety within their communities and eliminate roadway fatalities. Other Weld County communities who have received SS4A funding in previous grant cycles include the City of Greeley (FY22) and the Town of Windsor (FY23). It is our hope that the Town of Nunn will also be awarded funding through this program so that this movement toward roadway safety continues and grows throughout the county. Sine OID Kevin D.
