RE: APPROVE INCREASE OF CHANGE FUND FOR WELD COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE
SOUTHWEST SUBSTATION
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Southwest Substation of the Weld County Sheriff's Office desires to
increase the Change Fund due to an increase of large dollar note transactions, and
WHEREAS, the Interim Controller recommended to the Board that the Change Fund in
the Southwest Substation of the Weld County Sheriff's Office be increased from $50.00, to
$100.00, and
WHEREAS, after review, the Board deems it advisable to increase said Change Fund at
the Southwest Substation of the Weld County Sheriff's Office.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Weld County, Colorado, that the Interim Controller, be, and hereby is, authorized to increase said
Change Fund in the Southwest Substation of the Weld County Sheriff's Office to $100.00.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted
by the following vote on the 4th day of November, A.D., 2024.

PASS -AROUND TITLE: Increase to WCSO SW Sub Station's Change Drawer
DEPARTMENT: Weld County Sheriff's Office DATE: 10/30/2024
PERSON REQUESTING: Sonja Kohlgraf, WCSO Finance Manager
Brief description of the problem/issue: Currently the SW Substation carries a change drawer of $50. We are
requesting to increase the change drawer from $50 to $100 because the $50 change is not sufficient to handle
multiple large dollar note payments if change needs to be given out. Customer transactions have increased,
and we want to be able to give change as needed.
What options exist for the Board?
Consequences:
Better customer service to our citizens and a slight increase of the risk handling a cash drawer of $100.
Impacts: Transactions can be handled more efficiently.
Costs (Current Fiscal Year / Ongoing or Subsequent Fiscal Years):
An increased balance of $50 at the SW Sub Station.
Recommendation:
The WCSO recommends to increase the cash change drawer at SW Sub Station from $50 to $100.
