Town of Erie
P.O. Box 750
Erie, CO 80516
Dear Mayor Brooks,
Congratulations! The Town of Erie is being awarded a Weld County CDBG program grant in the
amount of $167,000 to implement a housing rehabilitation program in partnership with Brothers
Redevelopment, Inc. for the benefit of its low and moderate -income residents. The grant funds are to
be used for minor repair and rehabilitation of owner -occupied, single-family residences of low and
moderate -income households. The project will target manufactured homes in three manufactured home
parks and on individual lots in Old Town Erie. Repairs that directly address health and safety concerns
including weather- sensitive construction will be prioritized.
The Weld County Board of County Commissioners have set the priorities for the Weld CDBG
Program to be public improvements including adequate public infrastructure, housing preservation,
and access to public services. Additionally, the Weld County CDBG Program is designed to provide
funding to address community development needs in which at least 70% of the funding must
principally benefit low and moderate -income persons. This project meets the program goal of housing
preservation.
All projects require some level of environmental review which could delay start of the project. The
Town of Erie, as subrecipient, CANNOT begin to incur either administrative or program costs
associated with the project until an environmental review of the program has been completed and a
subrecipient agreement with the Weld County CDBG Program is fully and properly executed.
Please contact Elizabeth Relford, CDBG Program Manager, at (970) 673-5836 or Cynthia Martin, Sr.
CDBG Analyst, at (970) 537-1769 at your earliest convenience to initiate contracting procedures.
By facilitating these low- to moderate -income projects, the Community Development Block
Grant program is helping strengthen Weld County communities for all our residents. It's been
exciting to see the impact these variety of improvements are bringing to our communities.
Sincerely,
11
