Each member in good standing shall receive a notice of each annual meeting of the members at least ten days before the date of the meeting. 2. Each member in good standing shallreceive a notice of any special meeting at least five days before the meeting date. ARTICLE II OFFICERS' DUTIES President - Preside at all meetings of the organization and of the Board of Directors. - Appoint all committee chairmen and be an ex -officio mem- ber of all committees, except nominations. - Countersign checks with the treasurer when so required. - Perform such other duties as ordinarily pertain to this office. Vice -President - Preside at all meetings in the absence of the President. - Be chairman of the publicity and public relations comm- ittee. - Perform such other duties as shall be delegated by the president. Secretary - Keep accurate minutes of all meetings, both membership and Board of Directors. - Keep an active list of all members. Membership dues shall be paid to the secretary. - Preserve in a permanent file all records, documents of owner- ship and letters of value to the organization and its officers. - Send out all notices of meetings. - Conduct all correspondence. Treasurer - Keep and maintain the books of account, including a current record of all receipts and expenditures. - Keep current report of operation budget. - creep and maintain a bank checking account. - Make payment of all expenditures within his power and counter- sign with the President for such expenditures as require the signature of both the President and the Treasurer. Officers and Directors shall take office at the first Board of Directors meeting folloing the annual membership meeting. RTICLE III DUTIES OF FIRE CHIEF He shall be responsible for the protection of both public and private prop- erty, real, personal and mixed, located within the boundaries RE: determined to be the boundaries of the Pawnee Volunteer Fire Department. He shall be responsible for preparing plans for and conducting a training program for volunteer personnel in: FIRE PREVENTION AND CONTROL AND FIRST AID. lie shall direct, coordinate and control the efforts of volunteer personnel and the use of firefighting equipment during any civil emergency. He shall have authority and be responsible for the maintenance in maximum operating condition, all equipment and propetty of the Pawnee Volunteer Fire De- partment under his supervision and direction. : uch authority does not include the authority to purchase any spare parts, tools or additional equipment in excess of the monthly operating budget, as this authority resin in the Board of Directors. But it shall be his duty to make recommendations for such purchases to the Board of Directors or to the membership. ARTICLE IV DUTIES OF ASSISTANT FIRE CHIEF He shall perform such duties as the Fire Chief shall prescribe. -2- He shalt render assistance to the Fire Chief whenever and whereever necessary. In the absence or incapacity of the Fire Chief, the ^•ssistant Fire Chief shall assume and perform all of the duties of the F?re Chief. He shall keep an up-to-date record of all volunteer firemen and their qualifications or special conditions under which they can work. He shall keep and maintain an inventory of all equipment, tools and other material under the supervision of the Fire Chief, and shall make a summary re- port of such inventory at the annual membership meeting. PTICLE V CCMWITTEFF. r HF?P VTTTTFF The President shall appoint with the approval of the Board of Directors the following committee chairmen; V. ays and means; Hospitality; .`.subsidiary Com- munity Functions; Publicity and Public Felations; and Membership. Ways and Means. Thall supervise various functions for the raising of money to be used for the furtherance of the Pawnee Volunteer Fire Department. The Treasurer shall be a member of this Committee. It shall be the duty of this Com- mittee to prepare a budget for the operating year, breaking it down for such periods of time as would seem feasible, and to endeavor to raise monies necessary for such budget. Hospitality.. They shall see that the buildings are ready for any and all meet- ings and shall designate households who shall be responsible for the refreshments at these meetings. They shall do such thim;s as are necessary to close the building at the completion of meetings or public functions. They shall do all within good judg- ment and ethics to introduce newcomers and to make all feel welcome. They shall check all guns. Community Functions Committee. They shall be responsible for sponsoring other projects for the benefit of the Pawnee Volunteer Fire Department, such as the formation of youth groups. Publicity and Public Relations. They shall publish the monthly news letter, have a representative attend the Board of Directors meetings; make timely releases to news media; and publicize all social and community functions. Membership Committee. They shall conduct and annual drive for obtaining memberships, shall endeavor to contact all residents and property owners within the geographical boundaries apprising such residents and property owners of the Volunteer Fire Department, its functions and the benefits to be had through being a member. They shall maintain a current list of all known property owners. l,IZTICLE VI A MENDMENT' These Ey-Laws may be amended upon the favorable vote of the majority of the members of this orlsaization upon any proposal or proposals for amendment at any annual, regular or Epecal meeting af the members. Vote shall be by written ballot.
