The application was submitted by Coors Energy Company on June 11, 2024, for the Keenesburg Strip Mine. The surface mine is located approximately 7 miles North of Keenesburg, Colorado. The permit area is further described as follows: All or portions of Sections 2 and 11, T2N, R64W; and Sections 25 and 36, T3N, R64W; 6th Prime Meridian. All review and comment periods as provided in the Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act and the Rules and Regulations of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board for Coal Mining initiate from this date of filing. Permit revision to establish the approved post -mining land use as Industrial/Commercial for the entire permit area. This will allow for renewable energy development at the site. The applicant is not proposing additional surface disturbance outside of the area currently approved for disturbance. The surface coal mining operation is located approximately 7 miles North of Keenesburg, Colorado. This decision will be published in the Fort Lupton Press as soon as possible. The first day following publication of the notice initiates a thirty (30) day public comment period. If, within thirty days, there are no requests for an adjudicatory hearing, the decision will become final. When finalized, SL -11 will Phase I release 101.28 acres including the reclaimed B Pit, the reclaimed Long Term Spoil Area, reclaimed roads, and other areas. As an interested party, you have the right to an adjudicatory hearing as outlined under Rule 3.03.2(6) of the Rules and Regulations. The request for an adjudicatory hearing must be written and state with specificity the reasons why the hearing is requested. The Phase I bond release application requests release of bond and liability for successfully completing backfilling and grading in Areas 35 through 38 and 42 through 45 encompassing approximately 102 acres within the mine site. These areas are located within Section 25 of Township 3 North, Range 64 West of the 6th Principal Meridian, Weld County, Colorado. The permit area is located seven miles north of Keenesburg Colorado and is accessed by Weld County Road 59. As required by Colorado law, whenever bond release is requested, all interested or affected parties with a valid legal interest must be notified and afforded the opportunity to comment or request an informal conference on the bond release in accordance with Rule 3.03.2(3) of the Regulations of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board for Coal Mining. This letter will serve to notify you that Coors Energy Company is requesting Phase I liability and bond release in the amount of $574,531.00 of the total current reclamation bond amount of $1,201,563.00. The revision was submitted by Coors Energy Company. All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from this date of filing. This TR proposes to update the standard used to determine re -vegetation success. In particular, the proposed standard would not differentiate between warm and cool season grasses. The applicant is not proposing additional surface disturbance outside of the area currently approved for disturbance. The surface coal mining operation is on land located approximately 7 miles North of Keenesburg, Colorado.
