RE: CALL FOR AN ELECTION TO REFER TO CERTAIN REGISTERED ELECTORS
RESIDING IN THE TOWN OF ERIE THE QUESTION OF WHETHER PORTIONS OF
THE TOWN OF ERIE IN WHICH THEY RESIDE SHOULD BE ANNEXED INTO THE
REGIONAL TRANSPORTATION DISTRICT
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the portions of the Town of Erie (the "Town") located in Boulder County are
already included within the boundaries of the Regional Transportation District (RTD), but a large
portion of the Town, including downtown Erie, is not included within the boundaries of RTD, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to C.R.S. §32-9-106.7, in order to refer the question on annexing all
portions of the Town into RTD, the Board of County Commissioners needs to approve a
Resolution authorizing an election to be held to refer to certain registered electors residing in the
Town of Erie the question of whether the portions of the Town of Erie in which they reside should
be annexed into RTD, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Town of Erie Resolution #24-068, a copy of which is attached
hereto and incorporated herein as Exhibit "A," the Town has requested that the Board call for such
an election, with the subject portion of the Town being more particularly described in the legal
description which is attached hereto and incorporated herein as Exhibit "B," and
WHEREAS, pursuant to C.R.S. §32-9-106.7(3)(d), RTD is responsible for the cost
associated with holding the election on the annexation question.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Weld County, Colorado, that pursuant to C.R.S. §32-9-106.7(1.5)(b), the Board hereby calls for
an election to be held to refer to certain registered electors residing in the portions of the Town of
Erie shown in Exhibit "B" the question of whether those portions should be annexed into RTD.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board respectfully requests that RTD authorize the
election to be held and set for such ballot question.

Resolution No. 24-068
A Resolution of the Town Council of the Town of Erie Requesting
that the Weld County Board of County Commissioners Adopt a
Resolution Referring a Ballot Question to Certain Town of Erie
Voters to Annex All of the Town of Erie into the Regional
Transportation District, and Authorizing Town Staff to Work with
Weld County to Accomplish the Same
Whereas, portions of the Town located in Boulder County are already included
within the boundaries of the Regional Transportation District ("RTD"), but a large portion
of the Town, including downtown Erie, is not included within the boundaries of RTD;
Whereas, to facilitate improved transportation services in the Town, the Town
would like to refer the question of whether all portions of the Town should be annexed
into RTD to the voters who reside in the area proposed for annexation into RTD;
Whereas, pursuant to C.R.S. § 32-9-106.7, in order to refer the question on
annexing all portions of the Town into RTD, the Weld County Board of County
Commissioners needs to pass a resolution authorizing an election to hear the question of
whether areas of the Town not already included in RTD should be annexed into RID;
Whereas, pursuant to C.R.S. § 32-9-106.7(3)(d), RTD is responsible for the cost
associated with holding the election on the annexation question; and
Whereas, the Town Council finds that it is in the best interest of the Town and
the public health, safety and welfare to request that Weld County pass a resolution
referring to the voters the question of whether areas of the Town not already included in
RTD should be annexed into RID.
Now Therefore be it Resolved by the Town Council of the Town of Erie,
Colorado, that:
Section 1. The Town Council requests that the Weld County Board of County
Commissioners adopt a resolution referring to certain Town of Erie voters the question of
whether areas of the Town not already included in RTD should be annexed into RTD.
Section 2. The Town Council authorizes Town staff to work with Weld County
to prepare the appropriate resolution, along with the legal description of the area of Town
that is being proposed for annexation into RTD.

Notice of Consideration for Approval of Resolution Calling for an Election to Refer to
Certain Registered Electors Residing in the Town of Erie the Question of Whether
Portions of the Town of Erie in which they Reside Should be Annexed into the Regional
Transportation District
Pursuant to C.R.S. §32-9-106.7, a public hearing will be held before the Board of County
Commissioners of Weld County to consider approval of a Resolution calling for an election to refer
to certain registered electors residing in the Town of Erie the question of whether portions of the
Town of Erie in which they reside should be annexed into the Regional Transportation District
("RTD"). The Resolution and its exhibits, including maps of the portions of the Town of Erie being
considered, are attached below. The public hearing will take place at the Weld County
Administration Building, 1150 O Street, Greeley, Colorado. Email messages regarding the matter
sent to an individual Commissioner may not be included in the case file. To ensure inclusion of
your email correspondence into the case file, please send a copy to egesick(Bweld.gov.
