Lupton Wayne J. Capron tormexasusamoc DISTRICT ENGINEER Gentlemen; The Colorado Division of Highways hereby requests approval of the Weld County Planning Commission to open a gravel pit with the material being used in the construction of an overlay job, between Brighton and Ft. Lupton on US #85. The pit is located on property owned by Lorimer Ogilvie & Corabelle Ogilvie, lying in W.* N.E. i& E. a N.W. 2f Sec. 18, T. 1N., R. 66W., in Weld County. The proposed pit is in an agriculture zone at present, in which it can be used for a gravel pit. This is the nearest to the proposed project that we are able to obtain. It is estimated that approximately 50,000 Cu. Yds. of material will be removed from this pit. It is anticipated that the material will be removed sometime between the last part of August 1969 to the end of the year. Material has been removed from this property before, however, no pit was made, it was more -or -less a leveling job. This proposed pit is located in the river bottom. Very little growth due to the fine Sand & Gravel practically up to the surface. Any banks will be sloped to a 3:1 slope, and the stripping of topsoil will be replaced over the slopes to promote growth. Pit and Pit area will be left in a neat condition. There will be no stagnant water remaining in pit, due to the porous Sand & Gravel, water will continml ly move through it. There are no existing houses, ditches, roads, or other improvements on adjacent properties that the gravel operation would have any effect upon. We hope that we have provided sufficient information so that the Planning Commission can act on the request for a temporary gravel pit operation. Sketch of proposed gravel area is attached. cc: Wayne J. Capron A. Chotvacs L. Anderson M.H. Grice file WAYNE J. CAPRON DISTRICT ENGINEER by.44/1 a Robert A.
