Andersen, State Representative 7th Senatorial District State Capitol Building Denver, Colorado Dear Mr. Andersen; It has been brought to our attention that the Legislative Joint Budget Committee has voted approval of the 80-20 matching formula for child care. We are pleased that the committee has felt these is suf- ficient justification to consider such a change at this time. As you will recall in the meeting which was held in late November between the commissioners, legislators, and the Weld County Department of public Welfare, this matter was discussed. It was our feeling then sal it is still so now, that thecounties have been asked to assume more of the financing of cervices for children, which has been the responsibility of the state. Yet state reimbursement was only 50 per cent for some services, and no reimbursement for such important items as medical care and transportation. The departments of public welfare have also been asked to provide other services in conjunction with various divisions of the Department of Institutions, Which have increased costs further. We realise that the question of 80-20 matching for Child Welfare services will cow up again for discussion. We encourage you to sup- port this action favorably.
