WARD CRISP INSPECTOR DENVER OFFICE Sill INSURANCE EECHANOE BUILDING DENVER, COLORADO 80202 September 15, 1965 REPORT OF INSPECTION DATE OF INSPECTION 9/2/65 J. A. Carlson INSPECTOR LOCATION , Premises of Assured, 922 - 9th St., Greeley, Colorado Kewanee Fire Tube Scotch Marine Boiler No. 1/Colo. 3338-S Inspected internally and externally. Corrosion in the form of scattered pitting was observed on the internal surfaces. This corrosion was active and one tube had actually pitted through and will have to have repairs. Since the hole in the tube is quite near the tube sheet, it is quite possible that the hole can be closed by means of fusion welding and, if so, this is satisfactory. To prevent further deterioration due to corrosive action of the internal surfaces, we recommend that a boiler compound be used in accordance with the suppliers recommendations. It is our enderstanding that this will be done. The condition outlined was discussed with Mr. Clementz, Custodian, at the time of inspection.
