DIRECTOR Weld County Commissioners Weld County Courthouse Greeley, CO:Oradc Subject: Compliance of Weld County Nursing Home: 1-(44447,-,5 44" i 3 / Gentlemen: I have completed the evaluation of the Weld County Nursing Home for the purpose of bringing it into compliance with the City of Greee' Code and the State Health Department Requirements. These recommend- ations are made from a practical_ and reasonable standpoint, and time will be allowed for the executioe of same. • The most pressing matter would be the'enclosure of the stairway from the main or first to the third floor. The stairway can be enclosed with light —weight blocks and smote carriers for each floor construct- ed at the same time. The doors serving the stal well muet, of course, be a fire rated type oA door. Secondly, all material stored in' tee attic spae 3hou o oe removed and any access openings frcm the third floor to the attio should be closed with an apprcved type fire damper. Ie would ae cesireao .e and permissab?e tc bprinkle the attic spate wit ten Beads operat.lr.c off of the extsti_ne domestic w&ter line and a" s; aoee t: provide maximum coverage in the attic space over the nursing home. Thirdly, the roll -type fire doors, which are no longer in use be- tween the Welfare Department and the Home, should be removed and the openings closed with masonry construction comparable to the existing type of construction. Fourth, transoms over all doers leading to public corridors should have the glass removed and replaced with 5/8" fireccde sheetrock to obtain the necessary fire -rating for the corridors. Fifth, fire hoses should have the control valves relocated nearer the floor to that ail personnel may readily reach them. 600081 Sixth, the dumb -waiter ah4ft from the Kitchen tc, t e second and. ttl.r:: .i q floors shou i.d be recaired to .;.ota1 the necessary fire -re i t. is rating and all opening wiring within the shaft must be enclosed in conduits • Seventh, boiler room. needs re≥;air to comply with fire resistive re- quirements. All doors from boiler room must be VI approved fire door and all wiring shall be in conduit with approved drop cords. Stair- way access to main floor corridor from boiler room should be changed to provide landing and egress at door level. Eighth, landing tables on fire slides should be extended to provide level take -off table fifteen feet (15') in length. The Inspection Department is satisfied with the building in general and the items mentioned above would place the building, for all in- tents and purposes, in a desirable Type II category. We propose a two year period as reasonable and practical to accom- plish the above requirements. If, because of budgetary limitations a longer time would be required, the Inspection Department would be most willing to reqdjust the schedule of compliance. If further information is required, please feel free to call upon the Inspection and/or the Fire Prevention Department at any time. CC;. Dr. White Glen Paul Clyde White W. E. C.
